Wendy Van Nooten
In 2003, I obtained a degree in Physical Education (sports sciences) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Subsequently, I studied Osteopathy at the International Academy of Osteopathy (IAO) in Ghent. Since 2007, I have been working as an osteopath. After completing my osteopathy training, I began assisting and later taught for several years at various schools in Belgium and abroad.
Alongside my passion for understanding the human body in general, I specialized in craniosacral osteopathy. Craniosacral refers to the connection between the cranium (skull) and the sacrum (tailbone). It includes the nervous system, the stress axis, the spinal cord, and all structures and membranes associated with it. It is not isolated from the rest of the body but requires a specific approach. Sensing subtly and acting subtly are essential to detect and address tensions within this range. This subtlety in sensing and treating and the desire to understand these ‘layers’ opened many other doors for me.
In my own exploration, which went beyond just osteopathy, I discovered, among other things, the importance of emotions—how the body holds onto them and how they can influence our structure and internal functioning (physiology).
I treat people with a wide variety of complaints, including headache, concussion, chronic back pain, digestive problems, hyperventilation, whiplash, sleep problems, anxiety, menstrual issues, fertility concerns, and emotional trauma.
Additionally, I often treat crying babies, infants with digestive issues, sleep problems, reflux, skin problems, etc.
I also achieve positive results with growing children who find it difficult to express themselves, including those with diagnoses of behavioral issues, ADD, ADHD, and autism.
